About this Event

WriteOut is a writing camp and workshop for students 13-18. This day camp runs June 27–29, 2019, at Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah, and features the chance for students to work alongside authors Shannon Hale, Brandon Mull, Yamile Mendez, Soman Chainani, Brendan Reichs, and Ally Condie. Visit our website for author bios, schedule, photos, and more.

Over the course of three days, students will workshop with published authors in their chosen genre, attend panels and book signings, visit one of Utah's stunning national parks, and attend a play at the world-renowned Utah Shakespeare Festival. Students also have many optional activities, such as swimming, climbing, free-writing time, and a costume gala and dance. The workshop groups are small classes of 20, so students will have the chance to work closely with one another and their author instructor.

The $250 registration fee includes all workshops, activities, excursions, admission to a park, a play ticket, keynotes, panels, and meals. Lodging is not included.

Additional tickets to the closing banquet on the final night of camp are also available for purchase for any parents or friends who would like to attend.

A limited number of spaces at WriteOut 2019 are reserved for Utah residents who would like to attend but need help paying the registration fee. See the Scholarship Application for details.
