Write the Change! Book Coaching Program * Two Sisters Writing & Publishing
Event Information
About this Event
She’s been writing and publishing books about diversity for decades, and now bestselling author Elizabeth Ann Atkins—CEO of Two Sisters Writing & Publishing—is helping people write books about how to ensure equality, justice, and wellness for all.
“The Black Lives Matter movement, the #MeToo era, and the awakening of men, women, and children everywhere are inspiring ideas for how to create a better world,” Elizabeth says. “So I’m helping people ‘write the change they wish to see,’ because they’re already being the change, as Mahatma Gandhi encouraged.”
She’s doing that with The Two Sisters Writing & Publishing Book Coaching Experience—teaching everything the aspiring writer needs to know to compose, publish, and promote a book. This series of six, one-hour workshops begins on July 15 and concludes December 16, 2020. It costs $150 per month. The energetic, interactive sessions happen live on Zoom, and participants benefit from Elizabeth’s guidance throughout the month.
They also get complimentary membership in The Two Sisters Writing Club, which offers three weekly hours of virtual co-working time with writers across America.
Elizabeth draws from the experience and expertise of writing 33 books—including White Chocolate, Dark Secret, and Twilight with Billy Dee Williams—all of which explore race from her unique perspective as a genetic fusion of African American, Native American, Italian, English, and French from her white father and black mother.
Elizabeth and her sister, Catherine M. Greenspan—who attended the University of Michigan before earning master’s degrees in writing from Columbia University and University of San Francisco—share a mission to cultivate racial unity that inspired them to open Two Sisters Writing & Publishing. The independent publisher specializes in writing and publishing books that celebrate diversity and against-the-odds success stories. Since 2016, they have ghostwritten and/or published 24 books by authors who include:
• the first black president of the American Red Cross, Steve Bullock; My Name is Steve Delano Bullock: How I Changed My Work and The World Around Me Through Leadership, Caring, and Perseverance;
• former Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer, Let the Future Begin;
• their mother, Detroit’s 36th District Court’s longest-serving Chief Judge Marylin E. Atkins, The Triumph of Rosemary: A Memoir;
• double amputee-turned inspirational speaker, U.S. Army Master Sergeant Cedric King, The Making Point: How to Succeed When You’re at Your Breaking Point;
• former DTE Senior Vice President Joyce Hayes Giles, who teamed up with four black female executives to write The Enemy Within Us: An Illuminating Perspective from Five Trailblazers;
* Dr. Herman Williams, MD, who shares how he lived to tell about dropping dead of cardiac arrest at age 31, and creating a more fulfilling way to live, in Clear! Living the Life Your Didn't Dream Of; and
* Enough to Be Dangerous by Mort Meisner with Stephanie Ruopp, a memoir by a former TV news executive turned talent agent who exposes racism and sexism in the media.
“Catherine and I love to showcase diverse voices on the pages of our books,” Elizabeth says. “We’ve both taught writing at the university level, and it’s our obligation to share what we know to help people—especially right now—express powerful and innovative ideas that can uplift and inspire us all.”
