Write & Say: Writing and Storytelling as Resiliency

Purpose of Workshop:
To assist direct service workers in establishing healthy coping mechanisms via creative writing and storytelling to develop healthy coping skills and means of resiliency.

Key curriculum concepts and goals:

  • This curriculum offers poetry, spoken word, creative writing to groups of direct service workers.
  • The goal is to establish meaningful foundations in resiliency, healthy coping, healing, the power of the voice and creative writing
  • Without compromising structure, workshops will offer a relaxed and open environment which lends itself to a freer and unobstructed domain.

There is NO COST to attend this training!

Who Should Attend?

Any professional that works directly with domestic violence survivors, their children, or abusers:

  • Domestic Violence Service Providers (Shelter Staff, Advocates, Therapists, Abuser Intervention Staff)
  • Community-Based (Substance Use Professionals, Immigration, Transitional Housing)
  • Health Care (Nurses, Physicians, Community Health Advocates, Mental Health Providers)

What’s the content level for this training?
This workshop is open and encouraged for all experience levels of professionals. This workshop will be highly interactive.


Are Social Work CEUs available?

Yes! 2.5 Category I Social Work Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for this training. CEUs are free for MNADV members and $45 for non-members.

How much are Social Work CEU’s?

Social Work CEUs are free if you are an Individual Member of MNADV, or you work or volunteer for an organization that is a Member of MNADV. The cost is $60 for non-members. Please bring payment via check or exact cash to the training. Learn more about the benefits of MNADV Membership here.

When will I receive my Certificate of Attendance or Social Work CEU?

Is parking available?

Ample free parking is available on-site. Please do not park in the marked spaces.

Do I need to print the Eventbrite ticket?

No – once you receive a confirmation email, you are registered and do not need to print your ticket.

Is food available?

No, food will not be available. Please make prior arrangements. Tea, coffee, and water as well as a microwave and refrigerator are available at no cost on-site.

Will printed handouts be available?

Yes, PowerPoints and handouts will be printed and available for participants.

What is your cancellation policy?

MNADV understands that sometimes life gets in the way. If you need to cancel your registration, please do so at least 48 hours in advance, as many of our trainings have a waitlist. To cancel, please log into Eventbrite and delete your registration or email

No - please cancel your registration and have your colleague register on their own so they receive any email instructions prior to the training.

What happens if there is inclement weather the day of the training?

In case of inclement weather, MNADV will reach out to registrants at least 24 hours in advance and will make every effort to reschedule the training in the future.
