Playwright Jose Rivera is the first Puerto Rican screenwriter nominated for an Academy Award, for his adapted screenplay of the Motorcycle Diaries, Che Guevara's diary chronicling his life-changing motorcycle trip with Alberto Granado. Rivera has also penned dozens of plays.

An Evening With Jose Rivera is produced by Write in Brooklyn, a new St. Francis College MFA discussion series with prominent writers from a range of genres. Rivera will be interviewed by Ben Snyder, the MFA dramatic writing coordinator and an accomplished playwright in his own right.
