Andrea Gibson will kick things off on Wednesday, Nov 9th at the ND. This is the first time Andrea will be performing in Austin. She is the winner of the 2008 Women’s World Poetry Slam and placed 3rd in the world on two International stages. Andrea has been showcased on Free Speech TV, THE BBC, Air America, CSPAN, NPR, and her first book, Pole Dancing to Gospel Hymns, won the DIY Poetry Book of the Year and was nominated for the prestigious Pushcart Prize. This show will be hosted by Austin Poetry Slammaster, Danny Strack, and will feature opening acts by 2011 APS team members Lacey Roop, Jomar Valentin, Good Ghost Bill and others. On Thursday, Nov. 17th, at the ND, will be the biggest show yet: a double-bill with two multiple-time national champions, Buddy Wakefield and Anis Mojgani, at the ND. Buddy is the two-time Individual World Poetry Slam Champion featured on NPR, the BBC, HBO’s Def Poetry Jam. Last year, he was signed to Ani DiFranco’s label, Righteous Babe Records and toured with her throughout the country, including a stop at Austin’s Paramount Theatre. Anis is a two-time National Poetry Slam Champion and winner of the International World Cup Poetry Slam. He has performed for audiences as varied as the House of Blues and the United Nations, and his work has appeared on HBO, NPR, and he is a National Book Award Nominee. The Buddy and Anis Show also features opening acts by Kevin Burke, Ebony Stewart, Da’Shade Moonbeam, Danny Strack, and others, as well as some aerial performances by Sky Candy, and will be hosted by fellow WriteBloodyAuthor, Cristin O'Keefe Aptowicz.

Cristin O’Keefe Aptowicz wraps up WriteBloody Poetry Month with a feature at the Austin Slam on Tuesday, Nov. 29th at the Spiderhouse Ballroom. Cristin O’Keefe Aptowicz was recently awarded a 2011 National Endowment of the Arts Fellowship in Poetry, founded the three-time National Poetry Slam championship poetry series NYC-Urbana, and is the author of five books of poetry and the nonfiction book, Words In Your Face: A Guided Tour Through Twenty Years of the New York City Poetry Slam.
