WOW! Our show sold out more than a week ahead of time. Due to the demand we've added this second performance, a special Tuesday night preview showing.
The preview night show will include the same scenes and characters, and you will create a completely original script that night for The Stars Say Die!
The Exquisite Corpse Play: Sci-Fi is a collaborative play-writing party that culminates in an otherworldly Science Fiction play being performed live by a stellar cast of comic actors and improvisers just minutes after it is written!
An Exquisite Corpse play is a creative collaborative game written by a group of people based on an idea invented by the Surrealists. Each person only sees one line from the previous writer before taking her turn as author. A bit like a game of “telephone” the story progresses and digresses in unpredictable, wondrous, and funny ways.
It begins with in a party atmosphere, guests enter to a room bedecked in Science Fiction style, with some snacks provided by the show and drinks available for purchase. You can take your turn writing the play between bites and sips, while the outrageous Sci-Fi characters you will be writing for are mingling amongst you. After an hour of writing and fun, the tables are cleared, scripts are printed, and then, only minutes after its creation, an audience-authored Science Fiction play is performed LIVE by some of San Francisco’s finest and funniest performers.
Our incredible cast features Jody Frandle as Captain Oliver Clozoffe of the Starship Dental Prize and the amazing talents of Stuart Mangrum, Bryce Byerley, Dawn Corine, Brendan Hill, Dave McKew, Gerri Lawlor, Chandler White, Becky Hirschfeld, Gaea Pet, Dean Mermell, and Mikl-em. You've seen them everywhere from BATS to SF Improv Fest to the Dark Room Theater and beyond.
A Surreal tradition re-imagined
Invented by The Surrealists as a parlour game, Exquisite Corpse is easy and fun to play, and when the script you create is interpreted live by an amazing group of comic actors and improvisers you get a night of hilarious, collaboratively creative fun.
And we have more tricks up our sleeve: wild costumes and props; aliens and spacemen who walk up and say hello before you write for them; Science Fiction sounds and visions setting the mood before the show has even started.
It's a night of fun and hilarity, altogether exquisite and unexpected. JOIN US!
