Event description

Description

Evenings of All Writing Help You Discover Your Strengths and Hone Your Craft

Write-a-Palooza gives you a chance to explore your unique writer's voice in a friendly, structured setting. The facilitator uses the Amherst Writers & Artists method to help you quiet your internal critics. Write to prompts and exercises designed to get you started. Or, work on a project you've already drafted. Read aloud and receive only positive feedback because no one has time to edit, and negative feedback at this stage would be counterproductive. In the company of other writers, you'll be surprised and delighted by what you can write.

All levels except remedial. All genres.

Fiction · Nonfiction · Poetry · Screenwriting for Film & TV · Playwriting · Blogs · Performance Sketches

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

We sometimes write about deeply personal or dramatic topics. Therefore, it's preferable to be over 18. However, if you are 17 and you are not offended by mature content, then this would be an appropriate setting for you.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Transportation: It's easiest to reach The Resiliency Center by car. However, The Chestnut Hill and Fort Washington SEPTA train stops aren't far. Alumni have taken the train and then a Lyft, uber, or taxi to the workshop.

Parking:

Parking is provided.

What can I bring into the event?

For the first workshop, I ask that you bring an old-fashioned notebook and a writing implement of their choice. Studies show that writing by hand encourages Right-brain (creative) activity. If after trying writing by hand you hate it, I will not object if you bring your laptop. Most people find that they enjoy writing the old-fashioned way. Of course, if you have a disability that makes writing by hand impossible, bring your laptop.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

This is a Philadelphia Writers Workshop Event. www.phillywriters.com

What's the refund policy?

Write-a-Palooza nights are not refundable. However, if you can't attend a night for which you've paid, you can use your ticket to attend on another night as long as there is still enough room.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

If you can't attend a night for which you've paid, you can use your ticket to attend on another night as long as there is still enough room.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes. The workshop makes a great gift.
