Wounds We Carry Party Fundraiser
Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 9:00 PM (PST)
San Francisco, CA
We will be screening and dancing for a good cause.
Join the team from Wounds We Carry, a new documentary from Director Mike Siv (produced by the Center for Asian American Media) as we continue to raise funds to complete the film for the Cambodian community.
At 9pm, there will be a clips screening from the documentary with Dir. Mike Siv in attendance, a presentation by Peggy Saika, Executive Director of Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP), followed by a quick Q & A.
For $20 at the door, you're covered for both the 9pm screening and the club (open 10pm). There will also be Cambodian appetizers, for the screening. All proceeds will go towards developing the film.
For the 9pm screening at ShineSF, RSVP to Mike Siv so we can accomodate guests: email@example.com
About "Wounds We Carry" from Director Mike Siv: I was six years old when my mother and I emigrated to San Francisco as refugees in 1983, leaving behind my father and brother. When I was 24 I made a film Refugee, about returning to Cambodia to meet them for the first time. Wounds We Carry is a personal documentary following a group of Cambodians as we return to observe the Khmer Rouge trials.
I'm making this film because 35 years later, our community is still seeking justice and trying to heal from the wounds left by this horrific genocide, one of the most brutal acts of violence in modern history.
