Event description

Salute and honor America’s true heroes, our veterans.

The state of RI's Office of Veterans Affairs is hosting a two-day event which will include 3 Inspiring & Educational softball games showcasing the national "Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team" (WWAST) against several Ocean State teams. Opponents will be;

Friday 6/02/17 6:00 PM - Celebrity All Star Team including several former MLB players

Saturday 6/03/17 Noon - RI National Guard Team

Saturday 6/03/17 2:30 PM - Veteran All Star Team

The Suggested Donation is $5 per person with discounts for Families & Youth Programs.

The WWAST represents some of our nation's bravest and most determined heroes, soldiers and veterans. These men have sustained severe injuries resulting in amputations, and through extensive rehabilitation, they have become competitive athletes again. Historically, they win 70% of their games.

Proceeds will benefit the WWAST - Kids Camp and a local veteran’s organization.

The WWAST - Kids Camp is an annual WWAST event as they continue our mission to educate and inspire these children who face many of the same challenges as our WWAST players. Twenty terrific kids between 8 – 12 years old from all over the country, with an amputation or missing limb, and are physically capable of participating in our daily softball clinics are eligible to attend. The WWAST will pay all expenses for the child and a parent, including travel, meals and lodging.

The WWAST motto is "Life without a Limb is Limitless".

For more information on the WWAST and its Kids Camp check out their Website at www: thewwast.org.
