Event Details

What kind of worship leader does the Church need in 2020?

How can YOU move BEYOND the SHOW and toward FORMATION for your people? From SONG LEADER to WORSHIP PASTOR?

This year, Vineyard School of Worship's SUMMER SESSION is designed for worship leaders (age 18-35*) just beginning and those who have a desire to build on the foundations they’ve already established. We will discover together the Biblical and Kingdom values of worship, how to design a setlist, how to administrate your team, how to lead pastorally, foundations in every instrument and so much more. Since we are online this year, we will have over 20 instructors from around the country contributing to the content. For those in the ALL IN tier, the breakout rooms will give you a chance to talk out what you are learning with a seasoned coach. If you opt for the ALL IN+ you will receive over 2 additional hours of one-on-one coaching in songwriting, spiritual direction, and worship leadership.

Real-time, immersive experience including 8 weekly live webinar lectures, roundtable discussions (one group will have discussions Spanish), and course materials physically mailed and emailed to you. ALL IN Classes will take place every Wednesday from 2-4pm EDT. For Ages 18-35.

Everything from ALL IN, plus:

  • Two 30-minute spiritual direction sessions

  • A one on one personalized song share with a seasoned coach

  • A one on one Masterclass Session to evaluate your worship leading with a seasoned coach

These extras are scheduled with a coach separately at your convenience. For Ages 18-35.

Audit all the class content via video and audio issued Friday of each week. This does not include roundtable interaction,  Q+A, masterclass, or song share options. All Ages can access this content.

  • Starting June 10, live classes are every Wednesday at 2PM EDT for 8 weeks through July 29.

  • Breakout sessions will take place on two select Thursdays at 2PM EDT.

*Why is the Summer Session only for 18-35-year-olds? What’s the deal?
Great question. We are specifically targeting younger, emerging worship leaders for this event for the ALL IN and ALL IN+ tiers. (Please Note: Anyone can purchase the AUDIT tier). This allows us to tailor the engagements for that demographic. We love and value multi-generational teams and will have other events that are all-ages (like THRIVE and the Vineyard Worship Leader Retreat). We do have some flexibility, so please email if you are on the fringe and want to join the ALL IN or ALL IN+ classes.

Are scholarships available?
YES! We are offering scholarships for those in need. Church planters and non-US passport holders are encouraged to contact us for more details on scholarship opportunities. Email for more details or apply for a Vineyard USA Ethnic Diversity Scholarship.

What if I have to miss a week?
For those in the ALL IN and ALL IN+ tiers, we encourage you to attend every class and table group discussion. If you have to miss a week or two, that would be ok just communicate to your table leader so we can get you the recorded sessions and you don’t miss out.

Who will be at my discussion table?
We will team you up with a great coach and fellow students that are similar in age and experience.

I don’t attend a Vineyard church, is this for me?
Absolutely! Vineyard School of Worship is open to students from any denomination or affiliation.

I don’t currently lead worship anywhere, can I still attend?
Yes, the SUMMER SESSION is perfect for those just getting started or wanting to better determine their calling in the worship arts. This is also great for church planters and Pastors and worship team members.

I’ve already attended Summer Session in the past, can I come back?
Yes! You are welcome to register.

Anabeth Morgan is the Worship Pastor for the Mile High Vineyard. Originally from a suburb of Memphis, Tennessee, Anabeth has always loved the church. It was within the walls of the Vineyard Church in Kansas City, MO that she began to feel God tugging on her heart to lead others in worship. With the help of wonderful leaders and friends, she began her journey in worship leading. Her heart is to see God’s Kingdom come to earth so that people would be healed, set free, changed and moved to say “Yes!” to Jesus. She joined the Mile High Vineyard staff in 2011.
In addition to her role at Mile High Vineyard, she serves Vineyard Worship for events and has been featured on numerous Vineyard Worship recordings including “Bringing the World to Life,” “I Love Your Presence – Live from Phoenix,” “Cultivation Generation Live – My Foundation,” “Servant Wide Awake,” and most recently, “Shine On Us - live from Cause Con.” She recently released her first solo record called "A Place Your Glory Dwells" in December of 2017.

Anabeth is a graduate of Mississippi State University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Exercise Science, and Psychology. She and her college sweetheart, Kyle, have been married since 2003. She has one beautiful daughter, Jovie May, and is expecting another baby in September 2018.

For 18 years Mike served as the worship leader of Vineyard Community Church in Marietta GA preparing thousands of weekend and special services under the leadership of one pastor. He oversaw a collective of 25+ musicians that wrote, recorded, and led worship services for VCC. That collective, Poured Out Like Wine, recorded 7 albums with over 15 published songs with Vineyard Worship USA.

Mike works as a producer, engineer, and mixer at Lucko Sound Studio. Since 1997 he has recorded dozens of local church and sing-songwriter projects including Miami Vineyard Live and Not Be Moved. Mike serves the Vineyard Movement and the church at large with worship team training and production. His blog is focused on the practical heart and skill teaching for the 21st-century worship leader.

Dan Wilt says, “Mike O’Brien is one of the Vineyard’s most articulate communicators on the topic of contemporary worship leadership. His ability to break down complex ideas into memorable phrases and move-forward practices is second-to-none. I wholeheartedly recommend that you have Mike in to work with you, your musicians, and your techs. You won’t regret it; he carries the heart of worship deep within him – and it spills out everywhere.”

Mike is currently a top contributor to, an online training media library for worship teams. He has also done extensive worship team training throughout India. His heart is to come alongside the average worship joe in the trenches and help him or her champion a worship journey vision that serves the local church. Mike earned a B.A in Music from Kennesaw State University and an M.W.S at the Worship Studies from the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies. He lives in Atlanta GA with his wife Susan and son Ezekiel.

Martha Durán
Table Coach, Instructor (Leading Discussions in Spanish)

Antoine and Martha Durán were born in South America. Antoine was born in Chile and Martha in Ecuador. They have been married for 18 years and have three beautiful children: Evan 16 years old, Kaden 13 years old, and Milca 9 years old. The Duran kids have been active participants and partners in the development and growth of their ministry. During 2007 the Duran family was part of the team that planted the first Vineyard Church in the city of Quito, the capital of Ecuador in South America, Iglesia La Viña Quito” They served as part of the worship team there, and have continued to do so ever since. During this period of time, they served the church by training themselves and others on the DNA of the Vineyard Church Ministries. They also gave workshops on music, worship, history, and doctrinal distinction of the Vineyard movement. In 2013, they started planting a new church in Ecuador but God had different plans in mind for them. So in 2016, they moved to Minnesota to serve in planting “Iglesia La Viña” in Inver Grove Heights, MN, a River Heights Vineyard Church ministry. Evangelism through the music ministry is very close to their hearts and they have experienced it first-hand not only in churches but also in the streets and prisons, taking the Gospel to places and people otherwise unreachable. They have also held workshops and provided practical training for street musicians and churches. Through each of these church planting processes, they have grown and developed their skills to perform several different roles as evangelists such as worshipers, pastors, church planters, musicians, and worship leaders, to name a few. The Duran family long for people to experience a life of passion for Jesus and to be reconciled to God, to feel loved, healed, and empowered. To achieve this, their motto is, For God, we will do whatever it takes.”

Matt Farrand

Matt Farrand
Instructor, Table Coach & Communications

As a pastor’s son in a rural church, Matt grew up running sound, fixing gear, helping lead worship… whatever was needed to make Sundays happen. He was called to worship ministry at an early age and has been leading weekly services for over 20 years.

During that time, Matt has built and scaled systems to facilitate worship at every stage from church plant to large multisite congregations. His experience includes developing young worship leaders, multiplying teams, cultivating a songwriting community, church building projects, sound system design & installation, and helping to launch new locations.

Matt understands bootstrapping, shoestring budgets, strategic thinking, and creative problem-solving. Whether technology, music theory, or theology, he enjoys passing on practical knowledge to other worship leaders. Pastor Rick Olmstead says, “Matt's heart to train and empower others had blessed our church and reinvigorated our worship gatherings on Sundays.”

Matt studied worship arts at North Central University in Minneapolis, MN. He and his wife Teri live in Fort Collins, CO with their daughter Tatum and son Mac where Matt serves as worship pastor at Vineyard Church of the Rockies.

Justin Law
Spiritual Director

Justin was born and raised in small-town Minnesota and moved to the Twin Cities to earn a B.A. in Psychology from Hamline University. He began serving as a volunteer worship pastor at River Heights Vineyard in 2001. As a full-time staff pastor at RHV today, he leads in the areas of worship arts, prayer, and spiritual formation and is a member of the preaching team. Justin completed Vineyard Leadership Institute’s two-year program in 2002, earned his Masters of Ministry in 2011, and became a certified spiritual director in 2015. He released worship album Wait for the Dawn in 2010 and has stayed active in the Twin Cities music scene as a solo singer/songwriter, a leader of rock bands, and the common cog in a relationally-driven group of artists called The Law Collective.

Justin’s passions include coffee, travel, guitar effect pedals, and rooting for Minnesota sports teams, but his greatest joy is seeing people experience the life-changing presence, love, and power of God. He is grateful for his parents’ influence in his life, both for planting the first Vineyard church in Minnesota and for giving in to his unrelenting desire to own a KISS album at the age of four.

Joshua M

Joshua Miller

Joshua has been married to his wife, Alicia, for 6 years. They have three children (Florence 3, Lenora 2 and Eloise 6 months). Joshua and his family moved from Columbus, Ohio to serve at the Desert Vineyard in Lancaster, California, where he is the Executive Pastor and Alicia is the Counseling Director.

In his 18 years of ministry experience, Joshua has served in many roles and in multiple churches both large and small. One of his primary roles through the years has been in Worship Arts Ministry. He has been a part of consulting and leadership development for churches who are looking to make the necessary changes to their church culture and to have a thriving worship community. His heart and passion is to help people connect with God in worship, to grow in their faith through teaching, to be a bridge-builder in relationships between generations, denominations, race, and culture.

In developing worship communities, Joshua focuses on three things… Spiritual Growth, Relational Connection and Musical Excellence. One of Joshua’s favorite, challenging phrases for worship teams who are seeking to develop in these areas is, “Rehearsal is what you do together after you have practiced individually.” This emphasizes that what we do as individuals (spiritually, relationally or musically) directly impacts what we can do together.

Alex Faison
Instructor and Table Coach

Alex Faison is the Worship Director at Vineyard Church of Davenport, in Davenport Iowa. After making a hard decision of whether to finish out her full-ride music scholarship at the University of Northern Iowa or accept a job offer from her church to be the worship director in 2015, she felt a nudge from Holy Spirit to take the job at the age of 19. She is now in the transition to becoming the Worship Pastor. Alex has found her passion in worship leading through exposing God's love by creating atmospheres of freedom, and she is excited to continue to learn and teach more about God through worship. In August of 2018 Alex was featured on the Vineyard Soul: Generous God album and is the lead vocal on "Kyrie Elesion." She has also had opportunities to lead worship at several Vineyard retreats and conferences.

Jenna Greenwell
Spiritual Director and Table Coach

Jenna Greenwell is a Spiritual Director and the volunteer Worship Ministry Leader for the Vineyard Church in Billings, Montana, where she also serves on staff in administration and communications. She is originally from northern Colorado, and spent time on both coasts while in college. Her husband, Adam, served in the Marine Corps before being called to pastor, and as their lives shifted to accommodate this calling they accidentally met the Vineyard movement (and felt like they had found their tribe). Together, they spent five years at the Springs Vineyard in Colorado Springs, Colorado before moving to Billings in 2013.

Jenna never intended to be a worship leader but found herself filling in when each church was between worship pastors. Slowly, it became clear that worship was part of her purpose. This led to a transforming season of mentoring, personal spiritual direction and counseling. She fell in love with the spiritual formation process, which led her to enroll in the Sustainable Faith School of Spiritual Direction to become a director herself and start her own direction practice. Aside from professional achievements, Jenna has given much time and effort (and gained much joy) in shepherding a family. Adam and Jenna have three daughters and enjoy helping them grow into the people they are intended to be, all the while fully understanding that the girls are making them grow in far greater ways. Jenna is a big fan of cheesecake, sunsets, banjos, and sarcasm. She can be found online at

Vineyard Worship

Vineyard Worship exists as an organic extension of the Vineyard church movement in the USA (Vineyard USA). We are, in a phrase, "from the church, for the church.” We are not a music company first and foremost; we are a non-profit worship ministry. Our efforts will be centered in the cultivation and empowerment of the core value of worship in the Vineyard or more simply put "to help the local church experience God", rather than in a profit-driven music business model.
