Panel Members

Mariel Reed

Mariel Reed is the founder and CEO of CoProcure, a procurement startup that makes it easier for governments to work with nontraditional vendors like startups and small businesses. Previously, Mariel was an Innovation Strategist at the San Francisco Mayor's Office of Civic Innovation, where she focused on making government more collaborative, responsive, and inventive for San Franciscans. Before that, Mariel was an early team member at Coursera, the world’s largest massive open online course platform, where she led Coursera’s development in Asia. A committed community-builder, Mariel manages the local chapter of SF EdTechWomen, a national network for advancing women’s leadership in the education technology industry. She's an active member and curator emeritus of the San Francisco Hub of the World Economic Forum Global Shapers Community.

Julia Bossmann

Julia Bossmann is Director of Strategy at Fathom Computing, a start-up to build an optical computer for machine learning, and serves at the World Economic Forum as council member for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. Previously she was president of Foresight Institute, a leading organization for world-changing technologies, co-founded Anticip8 Analytics, a prediction start-up in the energy sector, and conducted research of coming technologies at Bosch Research & Technology. She is a McKinsey fellow, Singularity University GSP graduate, and World Economic Forum Global Shaper. Her academic background is in Neuroscience and Psychology where she holds a MSc with highest honors. She speaks and consults on AI, innovation, the future, and how technology transforms society.

Michael Mayernick

Michael is the founder of Spinnakr, which helps companies and developers use artificial intelligence to find import patterns and trends in data streams. Michael has worked in data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence for a decade, previously developing analytics technology for congressional campaigns nationwide. Additionally, Michael co-founded the DC Tech Meetup, recognized as the largest tech meetup in the world and founded JobSignal.io, a platform that uses machine learning to help those seeking to break into the tech industry identify which skills to learn.

Hicham Sabir

Hicham Sabir is Co-Founder and President of ShelterTech, a San Francisco-based non profit organisation building digital solutions forhomeless and underserved populations of the Bay Area. He was previously the Open Innovation Manager at Philips Lighting. Before that, he worked on Philips Lighting’s R&D teams to develop LED architectures, special applications and connectivity solutions. He holds an Engineering Degree from French Engineering School Arts et Métiers and a MSc in Applied Physics from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden.
