Building a world for a game is a complex creative exercise. The designer has to think about background, culture, communities, religions, warfare and environments for a story to unfold.
By using the FATE system, students will engage in an exercise that will help them build a world from the ground up, considering every aspect of world creation and creative writing processes. The game designer may want to draw from known cultures and histories, delve into research to build upon known knowledge in the real, fantasyor science fiction universes to make the world more believable.
Once the construct is complete, the student may want to take their learning further into development for a different platform or run their own tabletop role playing Game in the universe they create or just use the world to springboard a creative writing or art project.
