Event description
Join us for the World AIDS Day Community Reception

About this event

For more than 30 years, the AIDS Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City has acted to eliminate the stigma, suffering, and spread of HIV/AIDS in our community. In working with a diverse HIV/AIDS community, we have witnessed the same acceleration of healthcare inequities that currently seem to define the COVID-19 pandemic and expand social stratification. Everyone deserves access to essential medical care and treatment, especially the underserved and uninsured.

Therefore, in observance of World AIDS Day 2021, the Foundation will continue its mission to raise both money and awareness for our local fight against HIV/AIDS. We are asking you to consider serving as a sponsor of World AIDS Day 2021. Enclosed are descriptions of sponsorship opportunities. With your support, you will be invited to the World AIDS Day Reception to be held on December 1st from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm in-person at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, 4420 Warwick Boulevard, Kansas City, Missouri.

A highlight of the Reception will feature brief videotaped remarks by Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Director of the Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Senior Lead, Equity in COVID-19 Data and Engagement in response to the pandemic. Dr. Daskalakis will share thoughts on ending the HIV epidemic and the national strategy to address HIV.

Continuing last year's World AIDS Day theme, HIV/AIDS Activism Through Art, we have again commissioned a public large-scale outdoor mural to bring attention to the importance of defeating the stigma of HIV/AIDS as it impacts access to quality healthcare. We are thrilled that this year's mural, located at the corner of 18th and Walnut in the Crossroads, will be completed in early November.

We thank you for your steadfast commitment to the mission of the AIDS Service Foundation and for your consideration of our request in support of World AIDS Day 2021.

Sincerely,

Ann Slegman Isenberg & Sandy Geduldig
