Description

The World Affairs Council of CT held its very first Model United Nations program in 1952 and since then thousands of individuals across the state have benefitted from it.

The 2017 Model United Nations conference gives students the opportunity to engage in debate over a wide range of topics that revolve around the theme of climate change. This year’s program introduces a new committee: The Special Committee on International Cyber Security. The theme of this years event will be "Security in a Shifting World" where students will debate the security implications on topics ranging from nuclear arms to the refugee crisis.

The participants will also travel to the UN Missions in NYC on October 26 to be briefed by the countries they have chosen to represent. The program culminates on December 1st and 2nd at the University of Hartford where Model United Nations delegates will be discussing : Nuclear Deterrence, Financing Terrorism, Distributing the Refugee Crisis, Protecting Natural Resources, Digital Geneva Convention, The Right to Education, Walls as Borders, and Sale and Fair Trade of/ Access to Life-Saving Treatment and Care.

Saturday, December 2nd: 9:15am – 2:00pm

Program fee/UN Trip - $105.00/pp*

Program only - $60.00/pp
