Description

Nani Huliheʻe home o na alii
Ka Hae Hawaiʻi hoʻomalu nei

At the shore of Kailua-Kona, Huliheʻe Palace stands proud. Built in 1838 as the residence of Governor John Adams Kuakini, the palace became a favorite retreat for our kings and queens. Today, the Daughters of Hawaiʻi care for the palace and is home of many royal artifacts.

Written by long time curator Lei Collins, the mele praises with love the special places surrounding the palace. It is the beam of the people, cradled in the bosom of Hualalai.

Learned from esteemed Kumu Hula Kimo Alama, this hula auwana shares the beauty of Moku O Keawe, especially the royal land at Kailua Bay.
