Chair Dancing Workshop with Miss Angie Z (4 weeks):
June 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th
Classes are held at 6pm-7pm
A chair is more than just for sitting...a chair is an object that can be used to create an exciting element of striptease! Make that audience WANT to be the chair! We will cover all levels of chair work including conditioning exercises for strength. Please wear heels that you can dance in and form fitting clothing. Chairs will be provided.
Beginner Burlesque Movement with Darling Darla James (6 weeks):
June 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th
July 7th, and 14th
Classes are held from 7:15pm-8:15pm
This class is for the true beginner or anyone who wants to refine their skills in classic movement. Skills covered include everything from walking in high heels, simple choreography, boa work, glove peels, and more. You will leave feeling empowered, sexy, and well on your way to waking up your inner stripteaser!
Functional Flexibility with Liza Rose (4 weeks):
August 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd
Classes will take place at 4:15pm to 5:15pm
With emphasis on yoga-based alignment, dynamic instead of static stretching, and a different anatomical focus each week, students learn to bend and move sustainably into backbends and splits, opening hips, hamstrings, shoulders, and back. Learning how to stretch properly will make a huge difference in what you can accomplish onstage. Even if you consider yourself an “inflexible” person, this class will be great for you! Personal attention will be given to each student and their particular movement habits to help them accomplish greater flexibility in their most healthy and effective way. Students should wear form fitting clothing and bring a yoga mat.
Hulala Hula Hooping Workshop with Darling Darla James (6 weeks):
June 12th, 19th, 26th, July 3rd, 10th, and 17th
Classes will take place from 4pm-5:15pm
Limit 6 people.
Hoops will be provided.
This workshop will focus on building your trick repertoire, finding your flow in hoop dance and how to incorporate it into strip tease. All experience levels are welcome; wether you’ve never touched a hula hoop or you’re already a pro. We will be taking a limited number of students to ensure personal coaching. Hoops will be provided or you may bring your own. Walk-ins will require skill set approval.
Week 1: Getting to Know the Hoop. We’ll talk types of tubing and sizing. Waist and knee hooping, paddling and beginner moves.
Week 2: Off Body Hooping. Heavy focus on isolations and object manipulation.
Week 3: Trick Shop.
Week 4: Transitions. Transitional moves to seamlessly get you from one trick to the next.
Week 5: I Came to Slay. A class on how to own your flow.
Week 6: Stripping Behind the Hoop. Different ways to remove pieces of clothing with your hoop.
Booty Fabulous with Darling Darla James (4 weeks):
June 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th
Classes will take place from 6pm-7pm
Tone and build your booty then learn to shake it, because asses are an expression of life. The first half of every class will be pilates based in order to build our muscles and learn to use them. The second half will be all the fun stuff!
Week 1: Isolations and clapping
Week 2: Loosen Up: Twerk and Shake
Week 3: How to incorporate what you’ve learned into booty based choreography
Week 4: Lets Dance: Choreography
Bounce Fitness with Heather Loop (6 weeks):
July 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, August 2nd and 9th
Classes will take place from 7:15pm-8:15pm
Learn how to bounce like a pro! Heather Loop joins The New Orleans School of Burlesque to share her skills and wants you to exercise your freedom to shake your ass!
Based on Heather's years of experience as a dancer for Big Freedia, this class will focus on the basics of proper bounce dancing including fundementals like hip isolations, hip openers, back arches, proper stances, etc. Learn how to twerk, tick, and ass tassel twirl. And when you wanna put your moves to work in the club, learn how to ward off unwelcome attention.
Drop your inhibiitions and get a serious work out while you're at it! Stretching will be required before each class. Bring water and wear booty shorts. Barefeet or tennis shoes. No high heels.
EveryBODY's Perfect with Queenie O'Hart (6 weeks):
June 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th, July 5th, July 12th.
Classes will take place from 7:15pm-8:15pm
Each week will do a 10-15 minute stretch while talking about feelings and insecurities and how to promote a healthier, happier outlook.
Week 1: “Touch Yourself”
This week will be focused on sensual touch, how to APPRECIATE THAT TOUCH and how to convey that to your audience (be it your lover, the crowd, or yourself).
Week 2: “See Yourself”
This week will be focused on looking in the mirror seeing yourself and finding your beauty. This will include posing, accentuating your assets, and finding your sparkle.
Week 3: “Hear Yourself”
This week will be focused on finding your inner voice and telling your story through movement, your innate sexuality and presence.
Week 4: “Removals”
This week will be focused on taking off articles of clothing in a helpful structured environment. Emphasis will be paid to stimulating removal.
Week 5: “Costuming”
This week will focus on how to find costumes that work for larger body types and how to identify styles and aesthetics for your specific shape.
Week 6: “Choreography/Walking in heels/Chair Work”
This week will focus on walking in heels, finding the right heel height for your body type and working with choreography within those parameters. We will also touch on spatial parameters with larger bodies.
