Event description

Description

An amazing opportunity to discover Niall McDiarmid's secret to approaching and photographing people in the street, after which he will challenge participants to make their own portraits.

For the Blast! Festival, Niall has made a series of photographs of people in Sandwell to build a contemporary portrait of local communities. Through this body of work he has built a striking series of images that reflects the multicultural nature of the area. His work will be exhibited at Metro stops between West Bromwich and Wolverhampton and at High Street locations in West Bromwich.

Niall McDiarmid is a Scottish photographer based in London. His work is about documenting the people and landscape of Britain. Recent exhibitions have included: British Portraits at the Oriel Colywn Gallery, Colwyn Bay, North Wales in 2016; Here and Now: London Portraits at the Museum of London in 2017; and Town To Town at the Martin Parr Foundation, Bristol in 2018. He has published three books: Crossing Paths, Via Vauxhall and Town To Town. His work is held at The Museum of London, the Martin Parr Foundation and the Sir Elton John Photography Collection.
