Event description

Description

Join Modupue I Ibaye : The Philadelphia Yoruba Performance Project for an exciting dance and culture workshop with Awilda Sterling Duprey, Puerto-Rico-based master dancer/performance artist and educator. Awilda will share the beauty of Orisha dancing in the Afro-Cuban tradition, and investigate, through traditional movement and drumming, the impact of Hurricane Maria’s destructive forces on bodies, minds, emotions, and the physical environment.

This workshop is for people age 16 and older. All levels of experience are welcome. Wear comfortable clothing, and be prepared to move and work in bare feet.

Modupúe | Ibaye: The Philadelphia Yoruba Performance Project is a project of Intercultural Journeys, a Philadelphia-area nonprofit organization that uses the performing arts to foster peace, dialogue, and cross-cultural connection.

Major support for Modupúe | Ibaye has been provided by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage.
