Description

Workshop Wednesday is a weekly workshop event for students to learn hands-on skills that will help them be more successful in their businesses. Topics will range from company formation (LLC/S/C/B-Corp), creating a marketing plan, company valuation, IP/Patents, pitch-deck creation, and much more.



APRIL 5- Fernando Okumura

Fernando is co-founder and CEO of Kekanto, a Latin American local guide that shares similarities with Yelp, and Delivery Direto, an SaaS e-commerce system for restaurants. The company is based in São Paulo and is backed by Accel Partners. He's passionate about entrepreneurship and investing, being an angel investor in Eccosys, a cloud ERP for e-commerce, and Brilia, Brazil's leading LED IoT company. Prior to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Fernando worked at JPMorgan's Investment Bank in New York and McKinsey & Co in Sydney. He holds a B.S. in economics from the Wharton School, an MBA from the Stanford GSB, and a JD from the University of Sao Paulo.

David, the Director of the ANTrepreneur Center will present an overview of key business model components. It is especially relevant to those who are interested in applying to the Wayfinder incubator program at the UCI Applied Innovation.

APRIL 26- Ian Gibson


Ian Gibson, Esq. serves as Director of the Law and Finance Unit at UCI’s Division of ContinuingEducation. He is also a practicing civil attorney with the firm One LLP primarily handling litigation in the areas of copyright, trademark, and entertainment law. In his legal practice, Iran represents a broad variety of clients including internationally known illustrators, prominent photographers, film production companies, musicians, and technology firms.
Before practicing law, Ian was a successful session musician and composer. He performed on a multitude of high profile projects including Emmy award-winning soundtracks, internationally broadcast live performances seen by tens of millions, and film and television productions under the direction of industry juggernauts such as Steven Spielberg and Jerry Bruckheimer.Furthermore, his performance credits stretch outside of the traditional mediums of film and television to include award-winning video game titles and new media projects for renowned technology luminaries such as Apple.

MARCH 3- Brian Keith

Brian has 20 years of experience in delivering strategic technology initiatives, enterprise service management and leading high-performance software development teams. Recognized as a passionate technologist organizing and continually improving complex business processes. Certified ScrumMaster and in ITIL Foundations, leading application development teams in organizational transformation.

MARCH 10- Lee Godden & Bob Doll

BOB DOLL, Co-founder and lead trainer, Advantage Improv

During the past 25 years Bob Doll has served as a vice president of operations, a director of finance and other key roles in organizations ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies, including McGraw Hill. Bob is the founder of Everyday Improv, where he has trained business audiences from a wide range of industries and cultures. He has taught business training skills for the Association for Talent Development (ATD, formerly ASTD) and Toastmasters International. Bob earned an MBA from Fordham University.

An award-winning actor and voice-over professional (you've heard him in commercials), Bob has also studied and performed improvisational comedy with South Coast Repertory and Upright Citizens Brigade. He has been a principal improviser with troupes including JustUs Improv and Take One Improv, entertaining audiences at venues including the Irvine Improv and Disney California Adventure.

LEE GODDEN, Co-founder and lead trainer, Advantage Improv

A U.S. military veteran, Lee Godden enjoyed a 22-year career with high-tech startups and Fortune companies, directing North American sales teams. His book “ZenWise Selling: Mindful Methods to Improve Your Sales...and Your Self” is available worldwide in four languages. Lee has trained businesses and delivered keynotes across the U.S. He's written over eighty articles for the Los Angeles Times and various business journals. Lee earned a Bachelor of Science degree and studied post-graduate business at Pepperdine University.

A professional improviser, Lee has been a principal cast member with ImprovCity since 2009. As an actor, Lee has appeared in feature films and in national television commercials for brands including Lucas Oil. He's studied and performed with members of Second City. Lee is also a multi-album songwriter / musician and a television producer. He directed the recent documentary film "Where's My Food?!"

MARCH 17- Steve Zehngut

Steve founded Zeek Interactive in 1995 and he has been the creative technologist behind the Huntington Beach based company since its inception. Under his direction, Zeek has grown from an apartment bedroom to one of Southern California’s leading WordPress and mobile development shops.

Steve is the organizer of the OC WordPress Meetup and has helped build the community to over 1,300 members. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and has taught interactive courses at UC Irvine, USC, the American Film Institute, and Cal State Long Beach. Steve has a BA in Film from Cal State Northridge.

Entrepreneur who runs an internet marketing company and over 500 websites for his own projects.

There are endless opportunities to make money online. I'll start you on the journey by showing you how to create a custom WordPress website in 30 minutes. If working on a laptop from a beach in Thailand sounds better than working in a cubicle, I can help. If sitting in a cubicle and running a website sounds good, I can also help.
