Event description

Description

Section 26 of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 places a duty on “specified authorities”, in the exercise of their functions, to have “due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”. In order to support authorities to meet their statutory duties, we are offering free WRAP training.

The specified authorities include:

  • Local authorities
  • Schools
  • Health sector
  • Prison and probation
  • The police

This training is not limited to these sectors and is useful for all front-line professionals.

What is the aim of WRAP?

WRAP is designed to help make you aware about your contribution in preventing vulnerable people being exploited for extremist or terrorist purposes. The workshop improves the understanding of the processes used by those who radicalise individuals and ensures that staff are aware of whom to contact within their organisation to discuss any concerns.

This workshop aims to give you:

  • An understanding of the Prevent agenda and your role within it.
  • The ability to use your existing expertise and professional judgement to recognise potentially vulnerable individuals and know when an intervention may be necessary to support them.
  • Recognise when a vulnerable person may need help
  • An understanding of the help and support available
