Event description

Description

Editors Ada Tseng (Times OC) and Jennifer Acker (The Common) discuss how to hone and submit your work to newspapers and literary magazines. Followed by a discussion of Acker's debut novel--how it got published, and how its themes resonate with current topics of immigration, family-making, and cultural history. Discussions will be guided by audience interests and questions.

Jennifer Acker is founder and editor in chief of The Common, and author of the debut novel The Limits of the World. Her writing has been published in the Washington Post, Literary Hub, n+1, Guernica, and The Yale Review, among other places. Acker teaches writing and editing at Amherst College.

Ada Tseng is the entertainment editor for Times OC. She has contributed to Public Radio International, The Washington Post, LA Weekly and NBC News Asian America. She is the former editor of Asia Pacific Arts and Audrey Magazine, and she co-hosts the Asian American pop culture history podcast Saturday School.
