A workshop on the critical role of children’s literacy.
What besides access to books is needed to encourage reading in children? Can desire to read be increased by the design of kids libraries, meetings with librarians and teachers and special reading events?
These are some of the issues that will be addressed during this workshop.

Room for Children, is a library and an arts studio for children. It has become a model for parent-child interaction offers a model for reading education and a vision of how libraries can develop.
In 2015 the Embassy of Sweden, with support from the Swedish Institute, built the world’s first Room for Children outside of Sweden, in House of Sweden. It is open every weekend, and provides arts and crafts workshops and story readings.
