This project leverages real-time traffic data to provide added-value services in the fields of adaptive lighting, traffic optimisation, and public safety. Schréder and SixSq have developed the Volumlight solution, which optimises street lighting based on traffic volume. The proposal is to use the street lighting infrastructure already in play for Volumlight as a platform to host a variety of additional applications, and at the same time leverage from data available in the SynchroniCity framework. For this project, the data-driven adaptive lighting solution has been deployed in two large European cities, Antwerp and Porto.

SynchroniCity opens a global IoT market for cities and businesses. They develop shared digital services to improve the lives of citizens and to grow local economies

Apart from the hands-on demonstrations, this event will be targeting interested stakeholders who'd like to learn more about the solution and its benefits.

Workshop objectives

The aim of this event is to support the exploitation of the Volumlight solution within the SynchroniCity project. Experts in edge computing software and lighting will present the solution and demonstrate the existing deployment in the city of Porto, via informative and hands-on sessions.

The invited stakeholders will have the chance to share their business use case and challenges that need solving, hoping that by the end of the workshop, the provided information can help them move forward and potentially give room for an expansion and/or adaption of the existing solution.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

By metro:
The closest metro station is called Trindade. It can be reached with any metro line, and it is located ~200 meters away from the venue (3 minutes on foot)

By taxi:
The building is located next to the road and is accessible by car. Ask the driver to drop you at the venue address

By car:
There are private and public parking places nearby
