About this event

Europe is on its way to generate and make use of more data than ever. The project PrepDSpace4Mobility aims at contributing to the development of the common European mobility data space by supporting the creation of a technical infrastructure that will facilitate easy, cross-border access to key data for both passengers and freight.

Purpose of the Workshop

We are excited to extend an invitation to experts in the field of mobility, transport and data space technology to join us for the upcoming PrepDSpace4Mobility expert workshop. The workshop aims to provide you with an opportunity to learn more about the most recent results of the project and provide concrete feedback. Your contribution will help to sharpen the project’s results reflecting best practices and requirements from the sector.

The workshop will take place virtually on May 30, 2023, 1:00 – 5:00 pm CEST. It will gather suppliers and users of data, experts from relevant research institutes, associations, initiatives, and policy, as well as technology and service providers in data spaces to discuss current challenges and possible options and solutions in a common data space.

The workshop aims to provide a platform for mobility and logistics stakeholders to share their needs and requirements in the field of ITS to support the development of the upcoming European Mobility Data Space (EMDS) and to ensure that these are effectively and adequately taken into account in the preparatory action for the EMDS, the PrepDSpace4Mobility Coordination and Support Action.

The focus of the workshop will be on exploring the different building blocks required for data collection and data sharing in the mobility and logistics domains. Furthermore, participants will explore different technologies and standards, the challenges and opportunities associated with each of them as well as the governance frameworks (including policies and regulations) for fair and transparent data sharing and management in the context of the emerging EMDS.

Preliminary Agenda*:

  • 13:00 – 13:05 Expectations and goals of the workshop (FIWARE)
  • 13:05 – 13:10 Overview about the PrepDSpace4Mobility project as an integral part of mobility data spaces initiatives (acatech)
  • 13:10 – 13:20 Brief update from the European Commission on the wider context and ongoing initiatives (EC)
  • 13:20 – 13:30 Data Ecosystems Inventory: Presentation of the latest status (Fraunhofer IVI)
  • 13:30 – 13:55 Introduction to the data gap analysis (TNO)
  • 13:55 – 14:50 Breakout sessions about the data gap analysis (FIWARE / Project Team)
  • Participants will share their needs and experiences of barriers encountered with regard to realising priority use cases in their domain. This will concern notably needs in terms of data availability, quality, findability, accessibility and (re-)usability.
  • 14:50 – 15:10 Reporting back from the breakout sessions (FIWARE / Project Team)
  • 15:10 – 15:20 Coffee break
  • 15:20 – 15:35 Introduction to the identification of common building blocks (Amadeus)
  • 15:35 – 16:35 Breakout sessions about the common building blocks (FIWARE / Project Team)
  • Participants will share their needs and experiences about building blocks (interoperability, trust, data value and governance/legal) enabling data availability, quality, findability, accessibility and (re-)usability, with a particular focus of sector specific capabilities.
  • 16:35 – 16:55 Reporting back from the breakout sessions (FIWARE / Project Team)
  • 16:55 – 17:00 Outlook and next steps (FIWARE / acatech)

During the workshop, you will be offered lots of room for interactivity, active contribution and direct feedback reflecting recent lessons and best practices in the mobility and logistics data landscape.

We are looking forward to a successful workshop, and greatly appreciate your input and active contributions.
