Pregnancy Discrimination in the Workplace. Andy Backlund, Backlund Law Firm

Prize Giveaway: $100 Amazon Gift Card

Have you been treated unfairly at work because you are pregnant or because you have been pregnant? Are you planning to have a baby in the near future and you want to make sure you get the benefits you are entitled to as a pregnant woman and new mother? Come to this workshop and learn about the protections and rights afforded to you by Washington State and Federal Law. Learning the law doesn’t always result in taking your employer to court. Learning the law can also help you to inform your employer of the rights to which you are entitled, thereby avoiding any conflict in the first place.

At this workshop, you’ll learn who qualifies for these rights and protections including: pregnant women, perceived to be pregnant women, those considering becoming pregnant, new mothers, and mothers who are caregivers. You’ll learn what your employer is allowed to do, what they may not do, and what they are required to do by the law. You’ll also learn some tips on how to determine if you have a strong case of discrimination.

Don’t let your employer take advantage of you or mistreat you during this important time in your life. Even if you think there is no way your employer would do such a thing, you should still know your rights. Even the most well-intentioned employer can, and probably has, violated the law due to ignorance of the law.
