Planning and Reviewing Test Items: How to Use Test Blueprints and Item Analysis to Create Better Exams
Wednesday, November 15, 2017
12 noon - 2:00 pm
Lunch will be provided.

Successful development of exams depend both on effective planning before and careful review after the exam. The use of blueprints in planning, to design an exam and develop test items, helps ensure exam content is representative of course content and expectations. Post hoc analysis of the exam and test items allow evaluation of the exam’s performance and identification of problematic items. This workshop will introduce the concept of test blueprinting and item analysis in the development of multiple choice exams. Participants will be able to practice creating and using a test blueprint and interpreting item statistics for questions on a multiple choice exam.

Presenter:

Dr. Carrie Chen, Associate Dean for Assessment & Educational Scholarship at Georgetown School of Medicine
