Orchestrating Your Artistic Legacy - Workshop
This 2 1/2 hour workshop will give artists, photographers and filmmakers the information they need to understand how legacies are built and preserved, by way of good business practices and estate planning.

TIME: 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. (with break)
COST: $99 early registration (until Tuesday December 27); $130 regular registration (Dec 28 - Jan 5)
This workshop takes participants from basic orientation about estate planning all the way through to small details relevant to artists, with regards to inventory and intellectual property.
- Introduction to estates and wills for artists, photographers and filmmakers
- Roles and transitions for families and business partners
- Studio practice and record keeping
- Understanding appraisals and valuation
- Best practices to minimize taxes
- Choices for placement of an archive and related assets
- Considerations when choosing an executor
- Examples of families who’ve successfully stewarded reputations into history
Participants will be given ideas and paths to building their own artistic legacy and how best to prepare their archive and executors.
Instructors Jennifer Stoots, AAA, and Robin Moore, MBA, will provide a structure and workbooks so that any artist can create a plan appropriate to their situation and will be ready to write or revise a will. The goal is to provide artists, photographers and filmmakers with the tools they need to move forward with their estate planning plus save time and money in legal fees.

Robin Moore is a business consultant and personal coach who helps artists and other creative professionals plan for legacies that enrich the world and empower families. Moore was raised by a photographer and an art historian, and since 2006, has managed the estate of her late husband, a successful visual artist. JENNIFER L. STOOTS, AAA — Accredited Fine Art Appraiser, Certified in Photography
Jennifer Stoots is a fine art appraiser accredited by the Appraisers Association of America and is certified in her field of specialty. She has been professionally involved in the arts for 22 years, has been working in the photography market for 19 years, and has been appraising fine art and photography for over 14 years. She acquired her credentials to appraise art from NYU’s Appraisal Studies Program for Fine and Decorative Art in 2002 and earned her Master’s degree in the History of Art & Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Jennifer is most often engaged in appraising contemporary art, Northwest art, fine art photography and photographic archives, as well as preparing market analysis reports, and helping individuals manage their collections or archives and plan for their legacy. http://stootsllc.com/
