Mark your calendars for a Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) workshop on Atlantic offshore wind activities and marine protected species.

BOEM’s Office of Renewable Energy Programs is hosting a three-day “Best Management Practices Workshop for Atlantic Offshore Wind Facilities” on March 7-9. Workshop topics will include stakeholder perspectives, identifying protected species and habitat effects associated with construction and operation of offshore wind facilities, practices that can prevent or reduce effects, and monitoring strategies for protected species. The focus of the workshop will be on development of offshore wind in the Atlantic Ocean and discuss the development of best management practices, or combination of practices that are practicable in preventing, reducing, and monitoring impacts to protected species.

Participants will hear presentations from invited speakers about the effects of offshore wind activities, mitigation and monitoring strategies, identify stakeholder priorities, and participate in dialogue about strategies to reduce and monitor marine impacts. There will opportunities for all everyone to participate in the workshop.
