Description

This 1.5 hour workshop will begin by briefly showing example zine and chapbooks that demonstrate the techniques that will be taught to get a feel for their various aesthetics. We will focus on bookmaking that doesn’t require glue. The students will learn about bookmaking tools, basic practices and three techniques to create their own chapbooks and zines.

Non-Glue Book Techniques: Stab and Stitch Binding/ Japanese Binding, Poster Fold books (basic accordion book), and Saddle Stitch Binding (typically used for chapbooks and zines).

B. Neimeth is a Los Angeles-based visual artist and educator whose research examines familial and intimate relationships. Through archival reconstructions and fabrications, photographs, writing and sound, she explores the flexibility of memory and its connection to space.

She has shown internationally at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, Singapore, the Center for Sex and Culture, San Francisco and ROSEGALLERY in Los Angeles. Her work has been published in the Los Angeles Review of Books Quarterly Journal and her books are part of the collections in the California Institute of the Arts and Yale University Libraries.
