Workshop: How to get Bathing Water status for your swim spot
Overview
You can speak up for your swim spot, and demand designation.
Officially designated Bathing Waters are the only blue spaces where water quality is regularly monitored for its effect on human health, and legal obligations are put on polluting industries to clean up their act. In the UK, there are 600 coastal bathing waters - but only a handful inland.
You could apply to get your site designated. Through our comprehensive toolkit Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) will support you with the application process and also equip you with how to create a campaign in your community.
In this webinar, we'll talk through what this involves, including:
- What makes a waterway suitable for designation
- Each step of the process, and how we can support you
- Who you apply to in your specific region
- Success stories – and why it's the best way to protect your swim spot
There will also be lots of time for questions or to chat to other communtiies and water lovers who are interested.
