From Improv To Stand Up is the brainchild of Dana Jay Bein concocted in response to the number of times that improvisers (of all levels) tell him that they COULD NEVER do stand up comedy. That's just not true.
This workshop manipulates improv skills, techniques and games that actors already use to help them build the basics for doing stand up comedy confidently.
This workshop is open to improvisers and actors of all levels who have interest in trying stand up but have never given it a shot or haven't given it a fair chance.
"Impressive to say the least. Hilarious to say the best. Enormous, both in stature and heart. Dana Jay Bein is one of the most influential artists you will ever meet in the comedy world." - Boston Comedy Examiner
About the Instructor: Dana Jay Bein (DJB) is a stand up and improv comedian based in Cambridge, MA. Not only is Dana a featured cast member in ImprovBoston's National Touring Company he's also the head of ImprovBoston's stand up program. In 2005, DJB wrote and implemented the stand up comedy curricula for ImprovBoston's Comedy School and for the Boston Center for Adult Education. His stand up classes have been featured on MTV, WCVB's Chronicle and in the Boston Globe. Early on, DJB realized the power in comedy and discovered that he wanted to use that power for good. (Both forever and for altruistic purposes) That power is an underlying sense of meaning, purpose and importance, a redefined sense of confidence and a consistent reserve of happiness through laughter. As such, his goal is to connect with as many people in as many places through comedy. Some of that work has already come to fruition, as DJB has worked with individuals with autism, the homeless, children of all ages and women in prison.
His debut stand up album "Western Masochist" is available on Vimeo, iTunes and Spotify.
