Event description

Description

The #Out4MentalHealth Project, San Diego LGBT Community Center, and San Diego Pride all invite you to learn to construct and facilitate bisexual+ discussion groups. This training is an excellent opportunity for service providers, group facilitators, therapists and counselors, and people working or volunteering for LGBTQ community organizations.

Visibility and social support are some of the most important ways to combat isolation and minority stress for bisexual, pansexual, omnisexual, fluid, or otherwise non-monosexual(bisexual+) people. A bisexual+ discussion group is one way to accomplish these goals. However, lack of knowledge regarding how to plan and implement such a group may deter some people from taking leadership in doing so.

This workshop will provide participants with the tools they need to create a discussion group in their own community. It will start with a presentation about the unique challenges bisexual+ people face and the potential for discussion groups to raise bisexual+ visibility and provide support to alleviate minority stress and isolation.
