This workshop focuses on what families can do together to act in resistance to the current political policy and in support of communities most targeted and affected by that policy. The workshop will be held February 18th at the Leaven Community Center in NE Portland from 2 pm-5 pm.
The focus of the workshop is two-fold. The first underlying theme is talking about how we talk about and teach resistance to our families and children, specifically looking at rooting today's actions and work in a historical context. The second is engaging in actions and activities that are created for the whole family to do together, that engage across ages, skill, knowledge and comfort. It is a goal to help families find ways of engaging in resistance acts that appeal the entire family.
The event will host different short sessions where the groups will break up and engage in varying seminars, rotating through each one as a family.
The cost is sliding scale - I am asking between $20-$50 per family to cover the costs of the workshop. Any amount over the costs will be donated to Unite Oregon and the Immigrant & Refugee Community Organization. If you cannot afford the workshop, don't let that stop you. There are free spaces available.
Once you have signed up, please email@example.com letting me know how many people are in your family group.
