Workshop: Finding Your Photographer's Eye/Guidelines to Exceptional Composition
Saturday, January 5, 2013 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM (EST)
New York, NY
Photography is about capturing a moment, but not always. Sometimes it is used to tell a story or to invoke a feeling or thought. This Workshop will help budding photographers - challenged by finding subjects to photograph - learn to find their photographer's eye. We will learn how to find what speaks to you and then how to speak through your photography as well as knowing your tools so you can express what you want through lighting, color and lenses that allow for different effects. We will also study Composition to help us better capture ordinary subjects in a creative manner. This will be an hour and a half long presentation with a Q&A session. This presentation will be followed by a 30 minute Skills Lab after the presentation where we will find subjects to photograph using the information learned in the presentation.
Required Equipment: Your camera for the skills lab exercise. Be sure to bring a pen and paper for notes as this will be a presentation.
About the Presenter:
The language of photography intrigues me. I find it to be superior to words in expressing ideas and communicating the subtext within individual stories. And the photographic story that interests me is fashion. Through fashion photography I explore concepts and reveal the depth and breath of beauty. I use movement, color and light to express the uniqueness of design, garments and people. The people I work with become part of the photographic story and, in essence, part of its larger concept. I don't distinguish between commercial photography and art. With this in mind, I apply a fine art aesthetic to each photograph I take. My style ranges from edgy to ethereal and is always provocative. I am fortunate for the opportunity to combine beauty, art and commerce, and I work closely with each client to help make their vision a reality. Anne-Michele Mallory lives and works in NYC.
