Creating Your Story with Digital Humanities

What are the Digital Humanities (DH)? How did it come to be? How do we define it? What is the scholarly conversation about it and where is it going? More importantly, how can it be used for meaningful public-facing projects that engage, inform, and empower our communities? Why is it useful and valuable to us as humanists, artists, and social scientists?

In this workshop, you will learn the foundations of the digital humanities and how to approach your own DH projects. We will share various digital tools and digital humanities projects that showcase creative possibilities for telling our stories, histories, and research. At the end of the workshop, you will receive a DH action plan to help you get started!

About the Speakers

Olivia Quintanilla received her Ph.D. in Ethnic Studies and Jeanelle Horcasitas received her Ph.D. in Literature and Cultural Studies from UC San Diego. #DRSOJ represents our partnership, Drs. Olivia and Jeanelle. Our workshops reimagine professional and personal growth experiences for first-generation and underrepresented students through the perspective of digital humanities, world-making, and community knowledge.
