Event description

Description

NOTE: This is a two part workshop. You must be able to attend all parts of the workshop.

This class will be a 2 part series, making the very popular “Haori” jacket by Winksten patterns. This is a very simple Japanese inspired coat pattern with a lining. Students will need to provide there own fabric, between 2 and a half to 3 yards depending on size and length desiered as well as a matching all purpose thread. This coat looks great in wool, linen and would work well with most plain weave fabrics, meaning NO STRETCHY KINTS. We will discuss appropriate lining fabrics at the first class.

Session 1: February 13, 6-8PM

Session 2: February 20, 6-8PM

Instructor: Cally Casteel

REMINDER: Every Thursday, The Union's Youth program hosts Youth Open Studios. Young artists ages 5-15 are invited to participate in self-directed studio time from 4-8pm. Come paint, draw, read, play games, or do homework in a fun environment. Participants can create projects inspired by our exhibitions with guidance from staff who will introduce a new project each week. Cost is FREE and no advanced sign up is required. Participation is capped at 15, on a first-come-first served basis.

Youth Open Studios was established to reduce barriers to participation in our Thursday Co-Op workshops, creating an opportunity for young people to engage in hands-on art-making while their caregivers attend a Co-Op workshop. For more information, visit u-ca.org/youth.
