Event Details

This three-hour workshop will introduce participants to core concepts in board governance and structure. Through discussion and hands-on activities, the group will learn about different ways to structure nonprofit boards, what they do, and how to build them. We'll also take a look at committees.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the governance role of the board
  • Define board member roles and responsibilities
  • Describe at least three different governance structures
  • Summarize policies and procedures that every board should have in place
  • Identify roles of board officers, including president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer
  • Describe at least two ways to structure committees

Facilitator: Renée Despres, PhD, MPH, is an organizational development consultant with decades of experience.
