Workshop 7 - Funding your Business Growth

A key barrier to business growth is not having enough cash to handle the increased activity. As your business grows you are likely to need additional funding to buy resources, hire new staff, open new premises or buy new equipment. Where can you source funds and what funding is likely to give you the best return on your investment?

This highly informative session will:

  • Help you identify the various funding options (Venture Capital, Crowdfunding, Government Grants and Philanthropic Funds)

  • Determine the funding option/s that best suit your business needs


Your session leader is Michael Wildenauer has more than 20 years’ experience in technology leadership positions in both the private and public sectors, in Australia, the US, UK and Europe. These have included appointments as Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer. He is currently a part-time Professor of Practice (Management) at the La Trobe Business School, teaching into courses in Information Systems, Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Corporate Governance. Previous academic experience has included teaching postgraduate courses in IT Management and Governance of IT in online and traditional modes. Michael holds a BSc in Pure Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Adelaide and a MBA (Computing) from Charles Sturt University, and is currently undertaking doctoral research into the corporate governance of start-up companies at Victoria University Law School.

In addition to his role at La Trobe Business School, Michael is an IT Advisor to corporate clients, a non-executive director on the board of a rural health service, and member of the Victorian Business Relations Advisory Council for the Australian Computer Society. He has previously served as a member of a school governing council and on the Alfred Health Human Research Ethics Committee, and is a Senior Member and Certified Professional of the Australian Computer Society and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Michael is also listed as a co-inventor on five current patents in the area of audience engagement and sentiment analysis technology for television.
