Description

Workplace settings and the experience of visibility

Have you ever wondered why some breakout spaces in workplaces continue to be unloved and underutilised, while others buzz with activity? Modern workplaces increasingly offer choices of where to work from, but what mix of settings will work best and how do we know in advance whether a setting will be popular or not?

In this seminar, brainybirdz workplace scientists Dr Kerstin Sailer and Ros Pomeroy will take you on a journey to discover the variety of factors that come into play when we make choices at work. Individual preferences for workplace settings will be discussed alongside an analysis of recurring patterns of how people have made choices in an experimental setting. Our experience of visibility in the workplace, i.e. what we see immediately around us (and who can see us) will be introduced as a factor that is often overlooked, but can be measured and simulated.
