Event description
Are you curious about learning more on how detectives collaborate to support child victims of physical and sexual abuse?

About this Event

Have questions for a detective specializing in child abuse and neglect cases? What about for a licensed crisis intervention specialist? Join VOICES and Detective Shepp and Kelly Wills, MC, MFT, from the Police Crisis Intervention Section at the Scottsdale Advocacy Center as they explain how detectives in the Domestic Violence Unit and Special Victims Unit work together to provide services to victims of physical and sexual abuse. In this training, the presenters will explain the process of responding to a report on a child and will share the roles and responsibilities of different organizations involved with child abuse and neglect cases. CASAs will also be "walked through" hypothetical case studies to understand the parameters for abuse and neglect. In operation since 2002, the Police Crisis Intervention Section provides office space to forensic nurse examiners, investigators from the Department of Child Safety (DCS), and investigative units from the Crimes Against Persons Section so bring any of your questions that apply to this opportunity!
