Event description

Description

Supervisors have a challenging yet rewarding task--to help cultivate therapeutic skills and the self of the therapist in supervisees. Among COAMFTE accredited programs, supervisors have identified several challenging situations such as working with shy or quiet supervisees and helping supervisees with significant self-of-the-therapist issues. Supervision contracts and ethics will also be highlighted as a part of the presentation.

Objectives:

  • Identify different types of challenging supervisees

  • Summarize current literature on how to work with shy/quiet supervisees and supervisees with significant self-of-the-therapist issues

  • Identify and discuss issues related to the supervision contract

  • Lead discussion on 2 case examples of difficult supervision scenarios and how to approach the supervision process
