Event description

Description

In partnership with West Suffolk College, our 2017 conference "Working Together to Safeguard Children - a joined up approach" promises to be an interesting, thought provoking day for all those working with children, young people, their families or carers.

An event not to be missed, frontline workers and their managers from all sectors come together for the latest child safeguarding updates first hand, as specialist organisations speak throughout the day.

A great opportunity to network with fellow frontline professionals, this year promises to be bigger than ever!

JUST ANNOUNCED! Hanif Qadir, Chief Executive of the Active Change Foundation will be speaking at the conference.

Hanif is recognised as arguably the best violent extremist and de-radicalization expert in Europe and is actively involved in advising and assisting senior policy makers in reforming key aspects of Preventing Violence Extremism (PVE) and Counter Violent Extremism (CVE).

The Active Change Foundation aims to prevent violence between urban gangs and counter the lure of those who are intent upon recruiting vulnerable young people to violent extremism.

Other speakers include:

Rebecca White, Director and Founder of Your Own Place CIC social enterprise, supporting young people in transition and preventing youth homelessness

Dr. Ruth Lamont, Senior lecturer in family and child law, speaking on the impact of Brexit, on protecting children

Diana Porter, CEO and Founder of Fresh Start - New Beginnings charity, providing therapeutic services to victims of child sexual assault

Tracy Garcia, Communications Officer for Internet Watch Foundation charity, working to eliminate child sexual abuse content hosted online, in the UK and across the world

To ensure the latest developments are addressed, some speakers will be announced closer to the conference time.

All places include;

  • Refreshments and lunch (provided by Edmunds)

Doors open at 09.00 for a 09.30 start. Attendance of this conference represents 6 hours verifiable CPD under the GDC's Lifelong Learning Scheme. The venue is wheelchair accessible, as are the facilities.
