Event description

Description

Join us as we welcome Cory McCrory for this 2-day, hands-on workshop and learn the ins and outs of working with paper clay: wet-to-wet, wet-to-dry, dry-to-dry, and thick and thin. Participants will also learn to make their own paperclay, proper storage, how to make repairs before and after bisque, and tools and tricks for firing. Cory will also share how she makes texture sheets, approaches the construction of her pieces, and her decorating, and glazing process.

Cory McCrory has been learning, teaching and pursuing her career in clay for more than 35 years. She works from her home studio in Sandwich, Illinois. Cory’s claim to fame are her highly detailed and figurative Tpots.

"I am always on the lookout for the next idea. I am a people watcher and a hidden beauty detector. I keep several sketchbooks. Good, bad, and ugly ideas go into whichever one I can find.".

Cory works with cone 6 stoneware with approximately 10% paper pulp. Her preference for making paperclay: repurposed paper drink trays.
