About this event

The Working in Conflict course provides participants with conceptual knowledge and practical skills for ‘conflict sensitivity,’ enabling them to identify and manage harm that their programs and policies might cause, and support opportunities for their work to contribute to more peaceful local conditions. The course is complemented by training in mindfulness competencies, which supports the well-being and resilience of staff in dynamic and pressurised work environments.

This 5-day course is designed for professionals of all levels, from across the globe, from NGOs; government, development and aid agencies; and the UN system. The course includes two online/live Zoom modules and 5-day in-person training in Mallorca, Spain, 26-31st March, 2023.

The course combines case-based learning exercises, lectures and facilitated discussions on peace and conflict theory, and in-class group exercises that are grounded in the facilitators and participants’ own experience in conflict settings. Participants will learn and apply analytical and planning tools to their own cases and are encouraged to draw on their own experience in group discussions. The course takes a holistic approach to learning that combines classroom activities with time spent in nature, movement-based learning activities, rest and recuperation time, and healthy and delicious food. This holistic approach rebalances our nervous system and enables us to better connect with others, foster personal resilience, and access more creativity, energy, and potential to absorb learning.
