Event description

Description

Developing a strong workforce continues to be a high priority for companies across northern Illinois. Join IMEC at the Workforce & Technology Symposium to learn of the newest technologies, tools and training available to expand the productivity of your workforce.

Agenda

7:30am – Networking & Continental Breakfast

8:00am – Collaborative Robotics | RR Floody

Collaborative robotics – or cobots – are ideal for small and medium enterprises, which have the need for flexible and effective automation that can provide a fast return of investment. The versatility and ease-of-use make cobots an efficient and cost-effective workforce multiplier. You will see cobots in action, thanks to a live demonstration provided by Rockford-based RR Floody.

8:45am – Training within Industry | Mary Hallock, IMEC Technical Specialist

Training within Industry (TWI) is a dynamic program of hands-on learning and practice, teaching essential skills for supervisors, team leaders, and anyone who directs the work of others. This session will highlight 3 TWI programs that prepare your workforce for success, from the ground up.

  • Job Instruction: Quickly training employees to do a job correctly, safely, and conscientiously.
  • Job Relations: Building positive employee relations, increasing cooperation and motivation, and effectively resolving conflict.
  • Job Methods: Improving the way jobs are done for continual improvement.

9:30am – Networking Break

10:00am – Video Work Instructions | Dean Harms, IMEC Regional Manager

Work instructions are a tool that allows manufacturers to improve quality and meet demand, while reducing variety in the finished product. Video work instructions are a hands-on method for new technicians to learn the step-by-step best practices to complete tasks. Incorporating video work instructions to your training curriculum is a safe and efficient way to teach tasks, and reduces need for existing staff to provide training. Standard work instructions enforce consistency when performing tasks. We will have one style of video work instruction technology at the event for you to try for yourself.

10:45 – Employee Engagement Survey | Ashley Beaudoin, IMEC Technical Specialist

Do you seek to create a stronger culture of engaged employees and improve retention? Learn how communicating with your workforce to better understand your employees’ thoughts about the internal culture and processes can get you closer to these goals. Through an Employee Engagement Survey, you can identify how your employees truly feel about the current workplace and then create a strategy for workforce improvement. Listening to the voice of your employees is critical to see problem areas within the workplace and to recognize what is working well.

Benefits of the Employee Engagement Survey include:

  • Increased Performance: Employees who are highly engaged report a 21% increase in their performance.
  • Motivated Employees: A total of 78% of employees who are recognized for their work report being more motivated.
  • Reduced Turnover: There is a 14.9% lower turnover rate for companies who provide employees with continuous feedback
