Event description

Description

Join us for Woodland Owner Appreciation Day!

Thank you for your woodlands and all they do. Your woodlands provide habitat for wildlife, a natural filter for clean water downstream, and many other benefits we can't even see, like carbon sequestration. Just by owning woodlands, you are keeping our hills green and waters clear and cool, and helping to sustain a Maine way of life. Please join us so we can share our appreciation.

The afternoon will include:

  • Complimentary lunch and Allagash Brewing beer made with Sebago Lake water

  • Remarks from organizations that appreciate your woodlands

  • Walks and/or discussions with resource professionals who empower landowners to meet their goals. Topics include:

    • managing for sustainable income

    • attracting wildlife

    • planning for future generations

  • Raffle prizes

  • Opportunities to meet and speak with resource professionals about your questions and goals for your land

Partners from the Portland Water District, Maine Forest Service, Loon Echo Land Trust, Maine Tree Farm Association, Maine Audubon, Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Western Foothills Land Trust and local foresters Paul Larrivee and Jesse Duplin will be on hand to answer your questions. We hope you can join us to celebrate woodlands and waters, and a lovely afternoon in the forest. In the event of rain, we will meet at the Maine Lake Science Center on 51 Willett Road in Bridgton, Maine.

Registration is required. For more information, please email alanna@mainelakes.org or call (207) 647-8580
