About this Event

The Wonderful World annual gala, hosted by Wonderful World: Friends of Music Therapy Inc (WWFMT), honors the legacy of Louis Armstrong and his commitment to bettering the lives of others through music. The event recognizes both a dynamic group of individuals, who are chosen from a variety of fields inclusive of music, medicine, and philanthropy, and our beneficiary,

The Louis Armstrong Center for Music & Medicine (LACMM).

The evening will include a 'Breathe Easy' theme through a virtual live stream concert & award show. We will feature music therapy COVID clips of infants, children, adults with a virtual tour of The Louis Armstrong Center for Music & Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospitals. The evening will feature sonically animated LIVE music from Norah Jones, and Jon Batiste. Encapsulating themes of music's support in enhancing breathing medically and socially, Garry Dial, Erik Lawrence and some guest appearances from Broadway and Jazz favorites will be highlighted with our Masters of Ceremony for the evening's program: Mercedes Ellington and Bill Daughtry.

Our event is FREE this year!: You can support by donating or becoming a sponsor.

Louis Armstrong wanted to give back to the world some of the goodness that he received. Inspired by his legacy, generosity, philanthropic mission, and of course his music, Wonderful World: Friends of Music Therapy Inc (WWFMT) was established to provide assurances for those most in need, through the magic of music and human-centered healthcare.

All monies raised through WWFMT, a 501 (c) 3 organization,* go to The Louis Armstrong Center for Music and Medicine in New York City. The Center is home to the Department for Music Therapy at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. Its services and clinical research not only serve patients within the Mount Sinai Beth Israel hospital network, but the Center as well serves as pioneers and educators for the global medical community.
