This program is part of our Race, Myth, Art and Justice exhibition public program series.

In honor of Women’s Month, we invite you to join us for a community conversation with a powerful group of womxn that have decided to place art, culture, justice, and community at the center of their work with the purpose of deconstructing false narratives, building movements, and mobilizing our communities. From activist, art curators, institution builders, food justice advocates, musicians, writers, to healing practitioners, these womxn’s cultural work has reverberated into community activations and hopes for a more equitable society.

Our esteemed panelists are Cheyenne Wyzzard-Jones, Janel Martinez, Frances Perez, and Dr. Griselda Rodriguez.

The evening features a community dialogue, art activations, and more!

Women of Power Series, is one of our signature events held annually in March, that considers the role and impact of women in the African Diaspora through various lenses in order to claim, explore, and honor our experiences as well as to collectively strategize for our future.

  • Janel Martinez - Founder of Aint I Latina, Multimedia Journalist

  • Frances A. Pérez-Rodríguez - Food Sovereignty Advocate and Community Organizer

  • Dr. Griselda Rodriguez - Founder of Brujas of Brooklyn, Curator, Doula, and Sociology Professor at City College
