Event description

Description

For current and aspiring media makers, especially young womxn of color, to realize a pathway in media arts and to deepen their sense of creative resistance within their art practice.

ARTIVISM: Together well explore how womxn work toward equity in the local creative economy. Our featured presenters will be local artivists who have crafted social justice movements within their communities. Participants will hear their stories, ask questions, and engage in dialogue around developing strategies for their own practice and engaging with each other in this work. There will be time for connecting with each other and experiencing the power of intercultural and intergenerational learning for collective transformation.

RESOURCES: Well provide a resource area where arts organizations and individuals can leave their promotional materials and all attendees can contribute to our resource wall where we will leave large sheets of paper for folks to write down their needs as an artist (so you can connect with others who can help), list creative organizations that other attendees can discover, leave your contact info, and let us know what creative work you do (or would like to do).

WOMXN-CENTERED, EVERYONE WELCOMED: We believe that centering the voices of the most vulnerable identities (folks who identify as womxn of color, queer, disabled, immigrant, low-income) will lead to the dismantling of systemic oppression and the liberation of people of all identities. Our event welcomes folks of all ages and identities to join the conversation.
