Womxn of Color in Tech fosters womxn of color spaces to elevate the need for intentionality in building safe spaces for discussing our lived experiences with sexism, racism, homophobia, and transphobia specifically as business womxn; With the goal of sustaining workforce development & representation for womxn of color in industries that have historically boxed us in or left us out.
Guest Speakers:
Jodi-Ann Burey (she/her) has a mission is to disrupt “business as usual” to achieve social change. She is a speaker, writer, and equity advocate. Her work is grounded in centering the experiences of historically underrepresented communities and the systemic intersectional approaches needed to address inequities. Jodi-Ann holds a Masters in Public Health from the University of Michigan. She prides herself on being a cool auntie, a twist-out queen, cancer survivor, adventurer and reluctant dog owner.
Jodi-Ann is currently working on her first book and podcast about women of color and healthcare.
Jenna Hanchard (she/her) is a lifelong community storyteller who has spent her career centering and amplifying diverse voices. Jenna is the leader of Culture & Innovation at The Riveter, focused on content, programming and DEI strategies. Jenna spent the last decade of her career as a broadcast journalist in New York State, Kansas City, Missouri and most recently in Seattle, Washington.
She is a three-time Emmy award winner and an Edward R. Murrow award recipient. As a reporter and anchor Jenna was responsible for cultivating, researching, managing, writing and producing regional and national news stories. In Seattle, Jenna created the emmy-nominated series Race & Parenting which explores how families of different backgrounds talked to their kids about race, racism and identity. The series is currently being used as a tool for a local school districts and racial equity groups. Jenna grew up in the Chicago area with family roots in New York City. For the last four years, she’s been soaking up the Seattle rain and scenic landscapes of the Pacific Northwest.
